More than just a fashion show, Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2024/25 show blended the brand’s Parisian heritage with the rich culture of Hangzhou, China, on the beautiful waters of West Lake. Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s love of Chinese Coromandel screens and Hangzhou’s silk traditions, the collection featured delicate patterns and elegance.
Guests arrived by traditional boats, and the evening included a special film by Wim Wenders, adding to the magic of the event.
Numerous amount of celebrities made an appearance during the Chanel Métiers d’Art 2025 event in Hangzhou. The Oscar-winning actress from 12 Years a Slave, Lupita Nyong’o, and Tilda Swinton, who is known for her characteristic style and roles in movies like Doctor Strange, were among the guests.

Chinese brand ambassadors also attended, bringing their own touch of glamour to the event. Their elegant arrival made the evening even more memorable and showed Chanel’s global reach.
Delicate lotus motifs, fan-like pleats, and flower and bird patterns were all carefully created to express a sense of timeless beauty and romanticism. Chanel included lacquered textures and rich silk materials to give the items depth and shine. This highlighted Hangzhou’s longstanding reputation for producing some of the best textiles in the world and paid homage to the city’s rich past as the center for silk manufacture.

Using beautiful images, the film showed how French elegance and Chinese tradition can come together in harmony.
